Camera Workshop - New Equipment

Previously whilst studying Media, I have only worked with still images. Therefore, this being my first time working with moving images there are pieces of equipment which are new to me. Due to this I completed a camera workshop before I started my filming to familiarise myself with the new equipment and shot types.

Tripod
What is this used for?
This is used to stand my camera up and keep my shots steady. This cuts out any shakiness that would occur with a handheld camera. This can be adjusted to any height or angle to suit whichever shot I desire.

Dolly

What is this used for?
This is used for moving shots such as tracking, backwards tracking, arc shot etc. These wheels attach to the bottom of the tripod and allow me to push and move the tripod and camera around smoothly when filming, which allows for high quality action shots.

Boom Mic
What is this used for?
This is used for clear diegetic dialogue when filming. This attaches to the camera and improves the quality of sound that it picks up.
Note: For outside shots cover this with a muff to block out 'wind sounds.'
